SS-R250N è un registratore a stato solido con varie opzioni di controllo remoto. Adatto al broadcast, network o installazioni fisse può registrare in WAV e mp3 su SD/SDHC/SDXC e USB flash. Grazie alla capacità di connettersi a server FTP tramite network può eseguire il backup delle registrazioni su server in automatico oppure avviare, sempre automaticamente, il download di file per il playback. è inoltre possibile la sincronizzazione via SNTP.
Per minimizzare il rischio di perdita dati, SS-R250N è stato costruito con due slot SD e programmato in modo da passare da una SD card all'altra nel momento in cui una delle due non ha più spazio.
Per il controllo remoto è consigliato l'utilizzo del controller dedicato RC-SS150, creato per rendere le azioni di remote control più semplici e intuitive grazie ad un display LCD e 12 keys per il playback. Inoltre, l'app dedicata per Android e iOS permette il controllo su molti altri parametri.
A livello di connessioni audio, SS-R250N presenta input e output analogici (bilanciati e sbilanciati) una SPDIF coassiale e un'interfaccia AES/EBU con convertitore sample rate. (Dante Card opzionale)
